We hope to republish the series in book form quite soon, augmented by much new research and a large number of illustrations for which there was no room in magazine format.

In the meantime, here in the original extended version of part eight, which had to be cut severely for reasons for space, together with a bibliography listing Douglas's sources and a list of the owners, collectors, historians and enthusiasts worldwide who have helped him gather the raw material for this important project

The Ballot 2LS

A Postscript

Between 2011 and 2012 we ran a series of articles by our Publisher, Douglas Blain, on the little known, poorly documented but highly significant French sports car of the early 1920s.

We hope to republish the series in book form quite soon, augmented by much new research and a large number of illustrations for which there was no room in magazine format.

In the meantime, here in the original extended version of part eight, which had to be cut severely for reasons for space, together with a bibliography listing Douglas's sources and a list of the owners, collectors, historians and enthusiasts worldwide who have helped him gather the raw material for this important project.

As Douglas says, this search is ongoing, so if you have anything to ass to the 2LS story then do please post it on the comment section below.

Acknowledgements

I find it difficult to list all those who have helped me in the 19 years of research that went into the completion of my account of the 2LS Ballot. If anyone has been inadvertently left out, then it is certainly out of lapse of memory on my part rather then any wish to disparage or demean their contribution. In alphabetical order, those whose help I particularly wish to acknowledge are:

The late Col Alfred Archdale

Nick Baldwin

Ronald Barker

Ekhart Berg

David Burgess-Wise

The late Ian Connell

Pedr Davis

The late Marc Doüezy

The late Paul Foulkes-Halbard

For Archive facilities I am indebted principally to the Beaulieu Library; The Science Museum Library, London; The Mitchell Library, Sydney; and the Collier Collection, Florida.

Printed sources I have found most useful include the titles of The Autocar, The Motor, Automobile Quarterly, The Automobile, l'Automobile, Australian Motorsports, Omnia, La Vie Automobile and l'Auto. Among countless books consulted the following stand out: Borgeson, G: The Twin Cam Engine; Georgano, N: The Beaulieu Encyclopaedia of Coachbuilding; Frère, P: Profile

I very much enjoyed reading the series of articles on the Ballot sports cars.

I was wondering if there was a planned publishing date for the proposed book yet, please? Could it be something for reading over Christmas perhaps?!
